STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION RESPONDS TO SUNDAY MORNING ICY CONDITIONS AND HEAVY RAIN

Trucks Deployed In Central Maryland
Drivers Advised Remain Alert Throughout the Day

January 18, 2015

The Maryland State Highway Administration continues to respond to vehicle incidents in parts of central Maryland.  This morning, an unexpected band of freezing rain began to fall, resulting in slick conditions on some Maryland highways.

SHA trucks are applying salt and continue to assist local law enforcement and emergency services. While temperatures are expected to rise above freezing, travelers are reminded to remain alert throughout the afternoon, especially when driving along ramps, bridges and overpasses that tend to freeze first and in low lying areas that tend to flood.

Drivers can view the latest road conditions on SHA’s website at www.roads.maryland.govand clicking “CHART.”
