White Oak and Largo Customers Urged to Delay Trip
as Crews Continue Snow Removal Efforts

Customers Encouraged to Complete Transactions Online
Wait Times Expected to be High

January 26,2016

GLEN BURNIE, MD (January 26, 2016) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) will open all 24 branch offices and 18 Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) stations today with reduced parking at many facilities.  White Oak and Largo customers are urged to delay their trip to these facilities to give crews time to complete snow removal efforts.

“Crews are continuing to plow and remove snow at our White Oak and Largo offices,” said MVA Administrator Christine Nizer.  “We encourage customers planning to visit these branch offices to delay their trip, visit another branch location or complete their transaction online.  We thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”

A complete list of MVA online services can be found here.  Branch offices open at 8:30 a.m. and VEIP stations at 7 a.m. today.  Although facilities will be open, customers can expect longer than expected wait times. A complete list of MVA locations can be found here.  Safe winter driving tips can be found here.

The MVA is tentatively scheduled to start the driving skills test at 11 a.m. tooday.  However, this will occur only if road courses are safe and clear of snow and ice.  MVA personnel will drive each road course in the morning to determine if they are safe to open.  If a driving skills test is cancelled, MVA will contact customers to reschedule a date/time at their convenience.

Due to the closure of its facilities during the storm, MVA extended the following deadlines for Maryland residents:
  • Temporary vehicle registration expiring between January 22, 2016, and January 31, 2016, will be extended until February 1, 2016.
  • Any vehicle required to complete the VEIP test with a due date of January 27, 2016, will be extended until February 1, 2016.
  • Any Maryland resident with a Learner’s Permit that expires between January 22, 2016, and January 31, 2016, will be allowed to take the driver’s skills test through February 1, 2016.
