MDOT is hosting a free information session for MDOT SBE certified firms on upcoming federal SBE contracting opportunities with the SHA on Friday, February 24, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at 100 Community Place, Crownsville, MD 21032.  Space is limited, so registration is required. Please visit this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/small-business-enterprise-sbe-information-session-tickets-32157456819 to reserve your seat.  For more information on the free information session, contact Michael Smith of MDOT SBE at 410-865-1258 or mdotmbeoutreach@mdot.state.md.us.

The SBE program is race and gender neutral and is designed to provide contracting opportunities to small businesses on federally aided projects with SHA, Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), and the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA). It is intended to facilitate competition, eliminate obstacles, and increase opportunities for small businesses, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), to participate as prime contractors on MDOT federally aided contracts without competing with larger and more established businesses.

All MDOT DBE certified firms are automatically certified as SBE.  All other firms that meet the eligibility requirements must apply to MDOT’s Office of Minority Business Enterprise (OMBE) for SBE status.
