100 Percent of Recovery Act Highway Dollars Awarded, Funding Projects Across the Country

The Federal Highway Administration has met the September 30th deadline for providing nearly $27.5 billion of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars for highway and bridge projects throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the territories, U.S Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today.

Governor O'Malley Applauds President Obama For High Speed Rail Investments In Maryland
(1/28/10)

Maryland will receive nearly $70 million in federal recovery funds for key projects aimed at improving high speed rail connections in Maryland and the Baltimore region.  The funds will be used to complete engineering work and environmental studies for both the replacement of the Baltimore and Potomac Tunnel in Baltimore and the replacement of the station building and track upgrades at the BWI MARC/Amtrak Station near BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County.

  • Baltimore and Potomac Tunnel Replacement - $60 Million
  • BWI Station/Platform/Track Redevelopment - $9.4 Million

Report Names Maryland #1 for Reporting Of Economic Recovery Spending (7/29/09)

Governor Martin O’Malley issued a statement today following Maryland’s top-in-the-nation status for economic stimulus reporting by Good Jobs First, a non-profit research center based in Washington, DC. The report, titled “Show Us the Stimulus” ranks Maryland number one in the nation for best reporting of spending from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
