      Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA), and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program Overall Goal: Prime Contractor Public Consultation Sessions

       

      Pursuant to federal regulation 49 C.F.R. Part 26, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking comments on the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program and overall DBE goal for MTA, MAA, and MPOs.  In establishing the overall DBE goal, the federal regulations require that MDOT consult with minority, women’s and general contractor groups, community organizations, and other officials or organizations which could be expected to have information concerning the availability of disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged businesses, the effects of discrimination on opportunities for DBEs, and efforts to establish a level playing field for the participation of DBEs.  As such, MDOT is providing stakeholders an opportunity to share their views by completing a survey and through participating in open stakeholder meetings.

      This is an excellent opportunity for you to make your views known!

    • MDOT MBE/DBE/ACDBE/SBE Application Assistance Workshop Time: 10:00a - 1:00p Location: Maryland Department of Transportation Headquarters, 7201 Corporate Center Drive, Hanover, Maryland 21076 Details:

      On a monthly basis, the Maryland Department of Transportation's Office of Small and Minority Business Policy hosts the MBE/DBE/ACDBE/SBE Application Assistance Workshop.  This workshop is intended for those firms interested in seeking Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), and/or Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) and/or Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification.  By attending the workshop, you will learn the benefits of certification, the five key requirements for certification, and the four steps in the certification process.  For information and registration visit www.mdot.maryland.gov/aaw.

    • Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Workshop and Project Information Session Time: 9:00a - 12:00p Location: Maryland Department Of Transportation 7201 Corporate Center Drive Hanover MD 21076. Details:

      The SBE Program is a race and gender neutral program designed to provide PRIME contracting opportunities to small businesses on federally-aided projects with the MDOT State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA), MDOT Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA), and MDOT Maryland Aviation Administration (MDOT MAA).

      MDOT’s Office of Small and Minority Business Policy (OSMBP) is hosting a FREE SBE Workshop and Project Information Session. This session will explain the eligibility standards and benefits of certification and the application process. You will also hear from MDOT SHA, MDOT MTA, and MDOT MAA about upcoming SBE-designated contracts with their agencies. Opportunity MDOT will also be available to discuss Governor Hogan's Traffic Relief Plan, specifically the I-495 and I-270 P3 Program.

      At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to speak directly with the agency representatives for more details on the projects presented. Additionally, you will be able to meet with certification officers one-on-one to ask questions that relate specifically to your business.

      2019 Joint WDCSITE/WTS Technical Meeting and Orioles Game

      Please join your fellow WDCSITE and WTS colleagues for a joint technical meeting at WSP's Baltimore office on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. Topics will include traffic safety and smart transportation technologies.

      Following the technical meeting, we will have an outing to a baseball game at Camden Yards between the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals.

      It is anticipated that PDH credit(s) will be available. Payment will be taken electronically only (through Paypal portal). In order to attend the baseball game outing, you will be required to register online for this event - please register no later than July 12, 2019, if you wish to join us for the game.

      If we learn well-enough in advance that the baseball game is likely to be postponed, we may consider rescheduling the entire event for Wednesday, July 17, and will acquire tickets for the baseball game on that day. We will notify registrants of any change in plans no later than 4PM on Monday, July 15.
