    • Internet-based Electronic Bidding Training-Session 4 Time: 8:00a - 10:00a Location: 7201 Corporate Center Drive, Hanover, MD 21076 Details:

      The Maryland Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) State Highway Administration (SHA) will be transitioning from paper/hardcopy bidding to electronic bidding. Projects advertised after July 1, 2017, will require electronic bid submittal via internet. Paper bids or bids on CDs will no longer be accepted for projects.

      Contract documents will be made available through Bid Express and will continue to be offered at no charge on eMaryland Marketplace. Registration and a paid subscription are required to submit bids through the internet-based Bid Express system. Potential bidders are encouraged to register in advance as the registration process takes up to 7 business days. In addition, SHA will be letting pilot projects in advance of the July changeover, with the first projects advertised as early as March 2017. A bid extension will not be granted for delays in registration and/or errors in submission of electronic bids.       Two-hour in-person training sessions will be offered at MDOT Headquarters located at 7201 Corporate Center Drive, Hanover Maryland 21076 on 2/28/2017 and 3/1/2017 as follows:

      • Session 2: 2/28/2017 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
      • Session 3: 2/28/2017 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
      • Session 4: 3/1/2017 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
      • Session 5: 3/1/2017 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
      • Session 6: 3/1/2017 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM.

      In the event of inclement weather, the snow dates are March 6 and 7, 2017. The number of sessions and their timings will remain the same. In order to register for training please contact Kaitlyn Eng at keng@sha.state.md.us or 410-545-8946. Registration closes on February 22, 2017. When registering for training please provide the desired session number, name of individual attending, email address, telephone number and the company name.

      The MD Transportation Authority (MDTA) has been conducting its FREE outreach event entitled "Getting Your Foot in the Door" for numerous years and this year is no different. Each year, we strive to increase awareness of the procurement opportunities available at the MDTA, the other Transportation Business Units (TBU) and the State of Maryland.

      It is our goal to provide information to as many small, minority, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses who participate in the State of Maryland Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Small Business Reserve (SBR) and Veteran Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) Programs. Our event will include the following:

      1. Group workshops and discussions that provide necessary tools for small, minority, woman and veteran owned businesses

      2. Provide businesses with one-on-one access to MDTA and other government agencies’ representatives who work in Procurement, Engineering, Consultant Services, IT, and Construction

      3. Provide access to Prime Contractors and other small minority, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses

      4. Provide updated advertising dates for potential upcoming contracts for the agencies in attendance

      A well crafted plan will act as a blueprint to build, maintain or expand your business and also be used to present your company as a viable and sustainable business entity in the loan application process.
