      On a monthly basis, the Maryland Department of Transportation's Office of Small and Minority Business Policy hosts the MBE/DBE/ACDBE/SBE Application Assistance Workshop.  This workshop is intended for those firms interested in seeking Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), and/or Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) and/or Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification.  By attending the workshop, you will learn the benefits of certification, the five key requirements for certification, and the four steps in the certification process.  For information and registration visit www.mdot.maryland.gov/aaw.

    • Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) Stakeholder Public Listening Session Prime Contractors Only Time: 10:00a - 11:00a Location: Online Details:

      Pursuant to federal regulation 49 C.F.R. Part 23, when establishing ACDBE Program goals, MDOT must consult with stakeholders, which include, without limitation, minority and women’s business groups, community organizations, trade associations representing concessionaires currently located at the airport, existing concessionaires, and other officials or organizations that may have information concerning the availability of disadvantaged businesses, the effects of discrimination on opportunities for small, minority and disadvantaged firms, and the MAA’s efforts to increase ACDBE participation. To comply with this requirement, we are seeking stakeholder input through surveys and public meetings. 

      Your input is important and may be used to enhance operations of the ACDBE Program at MAA.  Please register to participate in one of our Public Information Sessions and complete the Online Survey.

      The Public Consultation Sessions are scheduled as follows:

      Are you thinking of starting your own business? Our business plan writing workshop will help you gather your ideas and get them down on paper. Your completed plan will serve as a guide and give you direction on what steps you need to take to start and manage your business and provide an invaluable tool in applying for additional funding. The instructor, Paul Taylor, Executive Director, Small Business Resource Center will also explain in detail how to arrive at solid meaningful figures for the Cash Flow Projection element of your plan. Each of the various components of a business plan will be covered.

    • Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Workshop and Project Information Session Webinar Time: 10:00a - 12:00p Location: Online Details:

      The SBE Program is a race and gender neutral program designed to provide PRIME contracting opportunities to small businesses on federally-aided projects with the MDOT State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA), MDOT Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA), and MDOT Maryland Aviation Administration (MDOT MAA).

      MDOT’s Office of Small and Minority Business Policy (OSMBP) is hosting a FREE SBE Workshop and Project Information Session. This session will explain the eligibility standards and benefits of certification and the application process. You will also hear from MDOT SHA, MDOT MTA, and MDOT MAA about upcoming SBE-designated contracts with their agencies. Opportunity MDOT will also be available to discuss Governor Hogan's Traffic Relief Plan, specifically the I-495 and I-270 P3 Program.

      At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to speak directly with the agency representatives for more details on the projects presented. Additionally, you will be able to meet with certification officers one-on-one to ask questions that relate specifically to your business.
