      On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA), BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport will host “Synergy,” A Business Networking and Employment Fair at the BWI Marriott Hotel, 1743 West Nursery Road, Linthicum, MD, from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

      Gaining access to prime and subcontracting firms is perhaps the single most important challenge for small businesses. Consider participating at the Synergy conference to connect with companies that are interested in doing business with BWI Marshall and Maryland Transportation agencies with agency decision makers and current BWI prince and sub-contract vendors to discuss doing business with the agencies and hear first-hand about BWI's procurement forecasts. 

      The conference will include a series of morning information sessions for aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned business professionals on state business certifications, preparing for bids, agency forecasts, and one-on-one matchmaking sessions.

      The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) continues to update internal processes and develop COMAR-compliant electronic proposal packages to complete our transition from paper/hardcopy bidding to electronic bidding. All highway construction and maintenance projects will be moved to the electronic bidding platform by the end of the summer. At that time, paper bids or bids on CDs will no longer be accepted for projects.

      Contract documents will be made available through eMaryland Marketplace and will continue to be offered at no charge on this site. Registration and a paid subscription are required to submit bids through the internet-based Bid Express system. Potential bidders are informed that the registration process takes up to 7 business days. In addition, SHA will be letting pilot projects in advance of the September changeover, with the first projects advertised as early as July 2017. A bid extension will not be granted for delays in registration and/or errors in submission of electronic bids. For more information about Bid Express registration and subscription, please visit https://www.bidx.com/site/registration. Presently bidders are unable to sign up or register to bid as MDOT SHA is still working through aforementioned updates. An update will be posted once the site is opened for registration to bid.
