      Promoting Smart Business Growth:  U.S. Census Bureau Data and Tools to Grow Your Business

       

      Every entrepreneur wants their business to succeed, and understanding their customers, competitors, and suppliers is key to helping make this happen.  This workshop will focus on the data and data tools provided for free by the U.S. Census Bureau and how business owners can use them in their research.  The session will provide information about the demographic, socioeconomic, and housing data the Bureau provides that can help businesses better understand their potential customers.  The presenters will also talk about the business data (that few users even know exist) the Census Bureau provides that business can use to better understand their markets.  Finally, the workshop will feature a live demo of key Census data tools that entrepreneurs can use to easily find, access, and use these data.  Come learn about these amazing resources!

    • Alternatives for the I-495 & I-270 Managed Lanes Study in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties Time: 6:30p - 8:30p Location: Oxon Hill High School 6701 Leyte Drive Oxon Hill, MD 20745 Details:

      Hosted By: Federal Highway Administration and MDOT State Highway Administration

      These public workshops in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in April and May 2019 will present the traffic, environmental, and financial analyses for the recommended Screened Alternatives along with the recommendations for the alternatives to be retained for detailed study in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

      Meeting format at the public workshops:

      • The MDOT SHA team will guide attendees through the workshop materials that will include informational displays, handouts, and interactive and hard copy mapping. Staff will be available to answer questions.
      • During the week, two presentations will occur at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, two presentations will occur at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Presentations are the same and will provide an overview of where we are today with time for questions and answers.
      • Comments will be accepted at the public workshops and online. Throughout the study we welcome your feedback.
      • A virtual workshop will also be available on the program website starting April 11, 2019.
