Supporting Electric Vehicles helps advance State and local government efforts to achieve the statewide goals for greenhouse gas emission reduction, while also cutting fuel use and costs.  As electric vehicles become more widespread, the electric charging infrastructure to support that transportation choice will be a significant factor in local government planning and in site design.  The need for charging facilities creates the need to address a number of issues, including on-street and off-street signage, charging station design standards, parking enforcement, and accessibility for all users.   In most cases, regulations and standards on these topics do not yet exist.
