MDOT HOLDS SBE CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP

January 25, 2019

Contract Opportunities Information Session also scheduled

(Hanover, MD) –The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Small and Minority Business Policy (OSMBP) is hosting a free Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification workshop and upcoming SBE contracting opportunities information session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, January 28, with the MDOT State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA), MDOT Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) and MDOT Maryland Aviation Administration (MDOT MAA). The contracts presented will range in estimated value from $129,000 to $7 million.

The workshop and information session will be held at MDOT, 7201 Corporate Center Drive, Hanover MD 20176. For more information on this and other workshops, visit www.mdot.maryland.gov/aaw or contact Denise Merritt of MDOT OSMBP at 410-865-1380 or dmerritt@mdot.maryland.gov.

The SBE program is race and gender neutral and is designed to provide contracting opportunities to small businesses on federally-aided projects with MDOT SHA, MDOT MTA, and MDOT MAA. It is intended to facilitate competition, eliminate obstacles and increase opportunities for small businesses, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), to participate as prime contractors on MDOT federally-aided contracts without competing with larger and more established businesses.

All MDOT DBE certified firms are automatically certified as SBE. All other firms that meet the eligibility requirements must apply to MDOT's Office of Minority Business Enterprise (OMBE) for SBE status.
